Essential Driver Training is the RSA's twelve-lesson programme for anyone on a learner permit. Each lesson is a set module with an Approved Driving Instructor, stamped in your logbook and logged as you go. Holders of some foreign licences qualify for a reduced six-lesson version.

Nerves before the test are normal. Most of them come from not knowing what the day looks like. Pretest lessons run on the routes your local centre uses, with a marked sheet at the end, so the only new thing on the day is the tester. You sit the test in the dual-controlled car you practised in.

Yes. Automatic lessons run at every package level across all twelve counties. If you sit the test in an automatic, your full licence carries a Code 78 restriction to automatic vehicles.
