Manual driving lessons Ashford
Our manual lessons help you use the clutch and gears while planning what happens next. An instructor explains the task and gives feedback as you practise. You can work on the basics or build on the driving you've already done with an accompanying driver.

Choose automatic tuition if it matches the car you intend to use. It removes manual gear changes while keeping observation and safe decisions central to the lesson. If you're unsure which option suits, tell us about your plans before choosing a package.

An RSA guide to the EDT
EDT gives new learners a structured course with an approved instructor. The standard programme contains twelve one-hour sessions. We can arrange manual or automatic tuition and check any sessions you've already completed.
Keep your logbook available for each lesson. The notes give you something specific to work on between sessions, whether that's preparing for a turn or judging your position on the road.
Book your EDT lessons ↗Get ready to pass your Ashford driving test
A pre-test lesson offers marked feedback and a chance to work on the points that need attention. If your test is in Wicklow, share the appointment details when enquiring. We can check tuition and test-car hire together if you need both.
Driving instructors across Ashford
Choose RSA School of Motoring for your driving lessons in Ashford
Because not all Ashford driving schools are made equal. Ashford's centre follows the R772 around the Vartry River crossing. Mount Usher Gardens is another useful local reference. When discussing where to start, give your actual address so we can distinguish the village centre from the surrounding roads.

The EDT: a guide
Your first booking can be one lesson rather than a full block. That gives you time with an instructor and feedback to help plan the next step. If you already know you need the full EDT course, compare the package total and what it includes.

Can I start with one lesson in Ashford?
Yes. A single lesson lasts one hour and includes tuition and feedback in a dual-controlled car. Give us your address, experience and transmission choice so we can check the booking.
What if I'm unsure whether manual or automatic is right for me?
Tell us which car you expect to drive and what experience you already have. We can explain the lesson options. Remember that an automatic test pass restricts your licence to automatic cars.
Should I send my test date when asking about lessons?
Yes, if you have one. The date, centre and transmission help us check suitable pre-test arrangements. Tell us at the same time if you will need a car for the test.
